Saturday the 31st of #GeraniumJanuary.
The end of my Geranium journey but sadly not enough days to show each of my hardy geraniums.
I have tried to highlight the different groups that I find fit nicely into my borders.
My top four are these beauties.

As it's the last day for #GeraniumJanuary here's 'Rozanne' and friends. Hopefully this time next year, the little pink geranium I planted under my pink rose will be doing as well 😊🤞💙💚🩷

Friday the 30th of #GeraniumJanuary.
The Geranium oxonianum group contains many beautiful geraniums.
Geranium oxonianum, 'David McClintock' is unusual but it's one the prettiest of all geraniums.
It is named after the author and botanist David McClintock.

Wednesday the 28th of #GeraniumJanuary.
We know Geraniums are the perfect companion for roses.
This is Rosa, 'Queen of Sweden' and it is a wonderful peachy-pink.
Being an upright rose and I thought it needed a light and feathery blue geranium as a contrast.

Tuesday the 27th of #GeraniumJanuary.
Today is the turn of another one of our native cranesbills: Geranium sanguineum or the bloody cranesbill.
Native to north of England, it can be found in grassland, woodland and on the coastal sand dunes.

Monday the 26th of #GeraniumJanuary.
In my last garden, I had a large rockery. It was perfect for the lovely low-growing Geranium cinereums.
The epithet 'cinereum' means: ash-grey. The foliage is grey-green and semi-evergreen and thrives in full sunlight.

Sunday the 25th of #GeraniumJanuary.
A little bit of magic with Geranium pratense, 'Hocus Pocus'.
From the Meadow Cranesbill family,
a magical variety with green-bronze, purple foliage and delicate lavender-blue flowers with white veins and a white eye.

Saturday the 24th of #GeraniumJanuary.
Today's the turn of Geranium wallichianum or Wallich's cranesbill.
The epithet 'wallichianum' refers to botanist and plant hunter Nathaniel Wallich. His name is seen next to many of the plants and trees he collected.

Friday the 23rd of #GeraniumJanuary.
Geranium pratense is our native meadow cranesbill.
The epithet 'pratense' means 'of the meadow'
A tall clump-forming perennial with hairy stems and deeply-lobed mid-green foliage.
This is Geranium pratense, 'Striatum'.

Thursday the 22nd of #GeraniumJanuary
Geranium × oxonianum, the Oxford geranium, is a cross between G.endressii and G. versicolor.
The epithet 'oxonianum' comes from the Department of Botany garden at Oxford University and botanist George Claridge Druce.

Wednesday the 21st of #GeraniumJanuary
Geranium wlassovianum comes from Siberia and Mongolia where it grows in damp grasslands.
Named after G. Wlassov a 19th century Russian plant collector.
It is clump-forming but sends out wonderful trailing stems.

Tuesday 20th of #GeraniumJanuary.
Geranium renardii is an especially attractive front of the border plant with sage-green textured, hairy aromatic leaves. The foliage indicates it likes the sun.
The epithet 'renardii' honours scientist Charles Claude Renard.

So here, to brighten up a gloomy Monday, are combinations where splashes of magenta looked stunning in the borders of my garden all through the long hot summer of 2025.

Geranium macrorrhizum, 'Spessart' is a semi-evergreen geranium and makes good ground cover to smoother weeds.
Geranium macrorrhizum, 'Spessart' is a rhizomatous geranium. The epithet macrorrhizum means: strong roots.
