WORKING THESIS : Names are not equally popular in every place and period. First-century Palestinian Jews used a distinctive cluster of names at distinctive rates. The Gospels and Acts reproduce that pattern and naturally distinguish people who carried the most common names. That is evidence of accurate information from the time and place being described.
