Shoutout to our Smithfield, Utah fire crews working the the #GrapeVinefire across the Utah, Nevada Border.
Engine 642 ha been on the Grapevine Fire working for a week and a half now, the fire is currently at 26,464 acres with a containment of 55%.
The crew has been busy holding lines and assisting in back burn operations.

The #GrapevineFire has begun to plume quite heavily northwest of St. George, almost coincident with the first PDS Red Flag Warning ever issued for southwest Utah.
It’s almost impossible to overstate how significant the fire risk tomorrow will be. Be careful and stay safe!

RAGING NEVADA FIRES: The #KaneSpringsFire has now burned more than 13,000 acres about 2.5 hours north-northeast of Las Vegas.
Sadly, it's one of TWO large fires currently burning in Caliente County. The #GrapevineFire is roughly the same size, with heat and fire danger settling in for a rough week.
🔥NEVADA WILDFIRES: #KaneSpringsFire and #GrapevineFire, both just west of the Utah border (likely visible from St. George area/Washington County) are already active this morning.
⚡️Both of these fires were lightning-caused, were 'discovered/reported' midday on Wednesday and exploded in growth throughout the afternoon.

A CAFMA Fireline Paramedic Team supported initial attack teams during the early days of the #GrapevineFire. Fireline medics provide emergency medical in the same way an ambulance medic does, but on a UTV so they’re able to support FFs anywhere at any time! #AZFire #YavapaiCounty

Thankful for LASER - Large Animal Shelters and Emergency Readiness and their sheltering of these barn animals that were evacuated from their homes during #GrapevineFire.
They sheltered: 11 horses, 1 mule, 1 pony, 4 goats, 3 pigs, 69 fowl (turkeys, chickens, and ducks).
During the #RacetrackFire and #GrapevineFire, our ARES/RACES volunteers deployed a communications tower trailer to assist with radio communications in the area.
A huge thank you to our volunteers! Communication is an essential component of emergency response.
The CWZ Type 3 Team and Firefighters are not accepting donations for the #GrapevineFire. Non-perishable goods can be donated to the American Red Cross. Or consider monetary donations to local volunteer organization that helped during the fire.
With evacuations lifted for the #GrapevineFire, we are closing our Red Cross and Animal Disaster Service Shelters. LASER will remain open, as needed as the area remains in SET.
