@@kizzabesigye1's Criminal Trial has been the #GreatestTest of the Ugandan legal system and the capacity of the Judiciary in politically sensitive matters.
At the onset, his extrajudicial rendition (not extradition) from Kenya exposed the ugly face of regional transnational repression. He was later arraigned before the then Military Court Martial. At that court, he objected to his trial since he wasn't in active military service. His stature and persona shook the entrenched foundations of injustice at the Court Martial and caused the Supreme Court to rise to its duty and disband the said Court. He now has the illusionary Criminal Justice System by the #Balls; through the denial of bail on four occasions, he has exposed how the courts are violating the constitutional Presumption of Innocence, Right to a Speedy Trial, a Just and Fair process and subjecting Ugandans to Pretrial Remand Sentences.
He has presented the Petition on the constitutionality of his trial before the Constitutional Court and contested the impartiality of the trial Judge.
Tomorrow he returns to take plea, but more is yet to unfold. In the end the wheat will be separated from the chaff.

No. 10 /10. JUSTICE ESTHER KISAAKYE'S CONTINUING WOES - NEITHER A RETIRED NOR A SERVING JUSTICE - EXILED, ACCUSED & ABANDONED BY HER ELK - NOW FIGHTS BACK FOR JUDICIAL INDEPENDENCE.
The #FightBack for Judicial Independence and Constitutionalism is ON. The erstwhile silent Justice Esther Kisakye @JusticeKisaakye on the 27th day November 2025 broke judicial tradition to speak up against on the denial of her rights and derogation of constitutional order.
Her current ordeal, precipitated by her insistence to render her dissenting judgement in applications in Presidential Election Petition No.1 of 2021, has continued for almost 5 years now.
The harrowing tale that inevitably resulted in her Lorship's exile must horrify each of us. Her current circumstances are a heavy price to pay for fighting for the rule of law and constitutionalism. Refusing to be gagged, Her Lordship exposed the deep rooted elements of repression and pretentious justice.
On the fateful, Her Lordship innocently set out to exercise her constitutional mandate and render her dissenting judgement but alas it was not to be, suddenly a recess was called and her Lorship's judgement scheduled for later that day. At the scheduled time, her Lorship's file was missing (allegedly confiscated), the lights & sound switched off and the makeshift courthall tent was being disassembled.
In an unprecedented style, a single justice of the Supreme Court (of a panel of 9) sat to render her judgement (from a duplicate file). From then on, it was an irreversible spiral downhill - several of her rights restricted - an investigation by JSC instituted- a suspension ensued - threats to her life.
Realizing the complexity at hand, she on the 3rd day of October 2024 sought court redress before the constitutional court. Her Petition was shelved and no date has ever been set. Having no where else to run from the might of the system, she attempts to retreat by seeking early retirement ( 7 years earlier than her actual date), which is rejected.
Her status unknown - neither a retired justice nor a serving justice, stripped and left to stand alone. Her elk unbothered or disinterested. The country for which she sacrificed, indifferent. Her Lordship was boxed into an exile corner.
On the 27th day of November 2025, her Lordship broke the shackles of formalism - enough of the silence - and every single day, she documents her plight & advances calls for judicial independence.
Judicial Independence can never stifled and Justice Esther Kisakye isn't fighting an individual cause - it's institutional and national - A patriots cause for ALL Ugandans.
