In Rwanda lives @ndanastase the founder of @WGYB_NGO, who is empowering youth and communities through tree planting, land restoration, and community-driven projects under the #GreenRisingProgram that is strengthening climate resilience in partnership with @unicefrw @RwandaYouthArts @GCAdaptation @GenUnlimited_ @GreenFundRw while promoting gender equality and social inclusion.
Across the region, similar efforts are being led in Kenya by @anitasoina (frame 3 with cows @Visit_Bigogwe ), a Maasai climate advocate, environmentalist, and author of #TheGreenWar. Through school greening initiatives, they are advancing climate education by engaging students and teachers, but also communities in planting and protecting indigenous trees in reinforcing the role of education as a pillar of climate action.
Both of these climate leaders supported by different partners, they demonstrate the power of youth leadership and collective action in addressing climate challenges across Africa.
Confidence, and compassion, they reshape their future and that of their communities.
I'm particularly inspired by their flagship #GreenRisingProgram, an initiative that empowers youth to lead environmental conservation through tree-planting, land restoration, climate action

Have you heard how our #GreenRisingProgram is helping Rwanda🇷🇼reach its tree-planting goals while supporting global sustainability?
Rwanda aims to plant over 65 million trees during the 2024-2025 tree planting season. This initiative is crucial in tackling climate change, deforestation and transforming our nation into a true #green paradise. Grateful to our #GreenRisingProgram, we've already exceeded our goal by #planting 72,000 trees, which helps build climate resilience and support our environment!
But we do more than just plant trees. Our #program aims to help families improve their livelihoods through better agriculture and biodiversity conservation, educate communities about climate change, and encourage households to plant more trees—up from 3 to 5 each! This includes a variety of trees, including forest species, fruits, and ornamental plants.
The #GreenRisingProgram is not just about planting trees in numbers; it’s about nurturing a community-driven movement towards a greener and more sustainable future.
As we move forward with our mission, we remain committed to making a lasting impact on our nation.🇷🇼💪
