🎥 The #US wants #unconditional_surrender from Iran: #Israel wants the collapse of the Iranian state; the #US_military has become a proxy force for #Israel; and there is not enough #ground_force for an #occupation of Iran👇👇 👈 Glenn Diesen @Glenn_Diesen in conversation with Col. Douglas Macgregor @DougAMacgregor (former adviser to the U.S. Secretary of Defense; author and combat veteran) ✅ 1 – Claims 🔺1.1 Talk of a deal with Iran is grossly exaggerated; an agreement counts only as Iran’s unconditional capitulation to whatever Washington wants. 🔺1.2 The American strategy — a decapitation strike, deterrence, and compulsion to open the Strait of Hormuz — has not worked. 🔺1.3 Ukraine has lost the war to Russia, but Moscow has not yet secured that victory; the United States has likewise lost the war with Iran, but Iran has not yet consolidated its own. 🔺1.4 The United States is building up for another round of war with Iran: bases in Britain and Germany, 2,000-pound bombs shipped to Israel, and Israel used as a launch pad. 🔺1.5 There is not enough ground force to occupy parts of Iran or Yemen; the operation is mainly air and missile warfare. If Iran does not capitulate, nuclear weapons come onto the table. 🔺1.6 Israel wants the disintegration of the Iranian state; Washington has no clear aim other than whatever Israel wants. 🔺1.7 American hegemony no longer includes the power to project decisive force anywhere in the world at a moment’s notice. Trump is trying to revive the unipolar moment; that moment is over. 🔺1.8 Unconditional support for Israel is part of the same bid to recover military hegemony. 🔺1.9 The Iran war is unpopular with the American public; Congress stays with the war because of money and a financial network. 🔺1.10 If the United States leaves the region or is defeated in a last round, Israel becomes vulnerable behind it; real-estate purchases in Cyprus, Athens, and Belgrade signal falling confidence in the state’s durability. 🔺1.11 Israel cannot become a normal state in the region; “Greater Israel” and a security belt at the expense of neighboring countries have not solved the security problem. 🔺1.12 There is no coherent strategy; this is an extension of the 1991 Wolfowitz line: remain number one and treat interventions as experiments. After 9/11 that line became making the region safe for Israel. 🔺1.13 Debt, money-printing, a dead petrodollar, and worn-out forces set the ceiling on this round; this is the last major military mobilization that can still be mustered. 🔺1.14 America can be free and prosperous without ruling the world. ✅ 2 – Arguments 🔺2.1 If Ukraine and Iran are both in a condition of “the other side has lost, but victory is not secured,” history says the prospective winner must act decisively. Iran is for now counting on the economic pain of a closed strait and on wrecked bases not being reoccupied. 🔺2.2 Israel is determined to drag the United States back into the region; so Iran’s assumption that America will not return is incomplete unless something is done to prevent that return. 🔺2.3 The regular army is under 450,000. Calling up the National Guard and the reserves collides with Congress and with Trump. Ground troops have no clear objective; Chabahar is also a port that matters to players outside the region. 🔺2.4 Special operations against the enriched-uranium file did not go well last time. What remains is air power and missiles. If that too fails to produce capitulation, the next rung is nuclear weapons, and a “tactical” nuclear weapon is still a nuclear weapon. 🔺2.5 The recent meeting with China did not settle Taiwan. Without standing by the 1970s Shanghai Communiqué and renouncing an independent Taiwan, Beijing will not take Washington seriously. The assumption that China has been pacified has no basis. 🔺2.6 Hegemony means applying one’s own rules under the name of a liberal order. When the power to project force is gone, that hegemony is gone. Reviving the unipolar moment does not fit a multipolar reality. 🔺2.7 If Israel cannot keep the United States engaged indefinitely and cannot beat Iran, its regional survival comes into question. Treating neighbors as inferiors does not produce new allies and exposes current allies as traitors in Arab and Islamic public opinion. 🔺2.8 Trump has no instrument that improves his standing for the midterms; his popularity is low. Sticking with the war is tied to the money of the billionaires who put him in office, not to the electoral base. 🔺2.9 Congress does not wash its hands until the war has gone badly; then it says it was not responsible. If most of Congress keeps the war, that same majority also keeps the guardrails against impeachment. 🔺2.10 Being a normal state in the region is at odds with conquest and a buffer zone. In 1973 Sadat’s aim was lost territory, not the destruction of Israel; that pattern is not the same as today’s aims. 🔺2.11 Intervention in Cuba repeats constitution-writing and supervised elections that failed three times before the Second World War. Neither China nor Russia intends a military confrontation in the Western Hemisphere. 🔺2.12 Lavrov: at Alaska, concessions were made on the condition that root causes would be addressed and that NATO would be off the table; then there was no follow-up, and sanctions and weapons continued. That does not amount to ending the Cold War. 🔺2.13 America’s historical strategy was a country from ocean to ocean, then Kennan’s containment militarized, then the 1991 doctrine of remaining number one. The wars became a laboratory for building client regimes. 🔺2.14 From 2001 to 2022 more than $28 trillion was added to the national debt; about $8 trillion traces to defense spending and to borrowing or printing. Without wartime taxes, the cost stayed out of public view until the printing process reached its end. ✅ 3 – Evidence 🔺3.1 The announced deadline for a complete withdrawal from Iraq: 30 September. 🔺3.2 An air-force buildup in Britain and Germany; some 40,000 two-thousand-pound bombs sent to Israel; Israel lacks the capacity to deliver all of them. 🔺3.3 The failed special-operations attempt on the enriched-uranium file, as precedent. 🔺3.4 The 10-year yield moving higher; read as weak Federal Reserve control over the financial structure. 🔺3.5 Trump’s UN speech: Iran can become powerful and prosperous, or it can be annihilated. 🔺3.6 Reports of large Israeli real-estate purchases in Cyprus, central Athens, and Belgrade. 🔺3.7 The October 1973 war; Sadat’s crossing of the Suez aimed at recovering land, not advancing into the heart of Israel. 🔺3.8 Three interventions in Cuba from 1898–99 onward, with constitutions and supervised elections and failed state-building. 🔺3.9 The 1991 Defense Planning Guidance draft by Paul Wolfowitz; the leak and its use as an internal reference for “remain number one.” 🔺3.10 Debt figures for 2001–2022 and the roughly $8 trillion defense share; the death of the petrodollar as the background that forces money-printing. 🔺3.11 Paul Kennedy’s The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers; the Korean War model of taxes and war bonds versus money-printing after Vietnam. 🔺3.12 Glenn Diesen’s meeting with Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Alaska, NATO, and Trump’s resemblance to Biden on sanctions. ✅ 4 – Conclusions 🔺4.1 The Iran war is in limbo: the United States has not reached its aims, and Iran has not secured victory. 🔺4.2 The next round is mainly air and missiles, with Israel as the pad; the path to a ground occupation is closed. 🔺4.3 There is no clear operational objective on the table other than Iran’s surrender and Israel’s aims. 🔺4.4 The hegemony of force projection is over; current policy is an extension of the unipolar moment and of unconditional support for Israel. 🔺4.5 The social base for the war is weak; its continuation is tied to money and to Congress. 🔺4.6 If a last military round and a financial shock arrive together, this is the last great mobilization, and Israel’s position in the region weakens. 🔺4.7 Greater Israel has not replaced a normal regional state as a security solution. 🔺4.8 The Russia–America track has not become a post–Cold War partnership; concessions were left without addressing root causes. 🔺4.9 The alternative path is a turn inward and prosperity without ruling the world; Europe also does not leave this deadlock so long as NATO and American forces remain in place.
