Random #GrowingTip: Supplemental Lighting!
Supplemental lighting is a crucial aspect of indoor cannabis cultivation, especially when natural sunlight is insufficient or inconsistent. Proper supplemental lighting can enhance plant growth, increase yields, and help you maintain control over your cannabis crop. Here's a chill guide on using supplemental lighting for cannabis cultivation
Assess Your Lighting Needs:
Determine Light Requirements: Cannabis plants have different light needs during different growth stages. They generally require more light during the flowering stage than in the vegetative stage.
Evaluate Natural Light: Assess the natural light conditions in your growing space, including the duration and intensity of sunlight.
Types of Supplemental Lighting:
High-Intensity Discharge (HID) Lights: HID lights include Metal Halide (MH) for vegetative growth and High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) for flowering. They are efficient and have been popular choices for cannabis cultivation for years.
Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs): LED grow lights are energy-efficient and can be tailored to provide the specific light spectrum needed for each growth stage.
Fluorescent Lights: T5 fluorescent lights are suitable for seedlings and clones but are less efficient for the flowering stage due to lower light intensity.
Calculate Light Requirements:
Determine the Square Footage: Measure the square footage of your growing space to calculate the number of lights needed.
Wattage and Coverage: Different light types have varying wattages and coverage areas. Follow manufacturer recommendations for the number of lights needed for your space.
Light Spectrum:
Vegetative Stage: Cannabis plants benefit from light in the blue spectrum (400-500 nm) during the vegetative stage. MH and certain LED grow lights are suitable for this stage.
Flowering Stage: In the flowering stage, plants require light in the red spectrum (600-700 nm). HPS and specific LED grow lights are ideal for this phase.
Light Duration:
Vegetative Stage: Typically, provide 18-24 hours of light during the vegetative stage to encourage robust growth.
Flowering Stage: Reduce the light cycle to 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness to trigger flowering.
Placement and Hanging Height:
Hang lights at the appropriate height to avoid light burn and optimize coverage. Refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for specific recommendations.
Adjust the height of the lights as the plants grow to maintain an ideal distance.
Light Management:
Implement a light timer to ensure consistent light cycles. This helps maintain the plant's growth rhythm.
Use a light meter to measure light intensity at plant canopy level and adjust light placement accordingly.
Cooling and Ventilation:
Many grow lights generate heat. Install adequate ventilation and cooling systems to maintain the right temperature and humidity levels.
Energy Efficiency:
LED lights are known for their energy efficiency and can significantly reduce electricity costs compared to traditional HID lights.
Monitoring and Maintenance:
Regularly inspect and clean your grow lights to ensure they are functioning optimally.
Replace bulbs or LED chips as needed to maintain the correct light spectrum.
Light Stress Management:
Be cautious about light stress, especially when introducing supplemental lighting. Gradually increase light intensity and duration to avoid shocking the plants.
Light Spectrum Adjustments:
Some advanced LED grow lights allow you to customize the light spectrum. Experiment with spectrum adjustments to see if it enhances plant growth or cannabinoid production.
Budget Considerations:
Consider the initial cost, electricity usage, and long-term savings when choosing your supplemental lighting system.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure your electrical setup is safe and compliant with local building and safety codes.
If you're cultivating cannabis legally, be aware of regulations regarding supplemental lighting in your area.
Supplemental lighting is a critical tool in achieving Ultimate DANK! By selecting the right lighting type, spectrum, and intensity, and by carefully managing light cycles, you can optimize plant growth, increase yields, and produce high-quality cannabis. Regular monitoring and adjustments, along with proper maintenance, will contribute to a successful harvest. i recommend the ac infinity IONBEAM series!

Random #GrowingTip: Write it Down!
special thanks to @christi4356 for inspiring this one!
Hey Guys! Wanted to do a quick easy tip and its about Keeping detailed notes and a journal of your cannabis Run. This is an essential practice for both novice and experienced growers. This documentation not only helps you track your progress but also allows you to make informed decisions and troubleshoot any issues that may arise. Here's a simple guide on how to maintain a cannabis growing journal:
1. Setting up Your Journal: O_O
Select a Notebook or Digital Tool: Choose a method that works best for you. Many growers opt for physical notebooks or binders, while others prefer digital tools like spreadsheets, apps, or dedicated cannabis cultivation software. For a water proof and heavy duty notebook i suggest GAK Stone paper!
You can Organize Sections: Divide your journal into sections for different aspects of cultivation, such as seed/strain information, environmental conditions, nutrient schedules, and daily observations. I like to keep it simple and do a linear path!
2. Record Basic Information:
Strain Information: Include details about the strain you're growing, such as the name, genetics, and breeder information.
Germination and Planting Dates: Note when you planted your seeds or transplanted your clones. you can name your plants so if you are growing the same stain you don't get confused!
3. Environmental Conditions:
Lighting: Document your lighting setup, including the type of lights, wattage, and the light schedule (e.g., 18/6 for vegetative stage and 12/12 for flowering).
Temperature and Humidity: Record daily temperature and humidity levels in your growing space.
Ventilation: Describe your ventilation system, including fans, exhaust, and intake systems.
CO2 Levels: If you're supplementing with CO2, note the concentration and schedule. i don't do this im not that good 🤷
4. Nutrient and Feeding Schedule:
Nutrient Brands and Types: List the specific nutrient brands and types you're using.
Feeding Schedule: Create a feeding schedule outlining when and how much you're feeding your plants. Include any adjustments or changes made during the grow cycle.
pH and EC/PPM Levels: Measure and record the pH and electrical conductivity (EC) or parts per million (PPM) of your nutrient solution.
5. Daily Observations:
Plant Growth: Regularly note the growth progress of your plants, including height, branching, and any signs of stress or deficiency.
Pest and Disease Monitoring: Keep an eye out for pests, diseases, or any unusual symptoms. Record any actions taken to address these issues.
Training and Pruning: Document any training techniques or pruning methods used to shape your plants.
Flowering Transition: Note the date when your plants transition from the vegetative stage to the flowering stage.
6. Harvest Data:
Harvest Date: Record the date when you harvest your cannabis plants.
Yield: Weigh the dried buds to determine your yield.
Quality Assessment: Subjectively evaluate the aroma, flavor, potency, and appearance of the harvested buds.
7. Miscellaneous Notes:
Experiments and Changes: If you try new techniques or make significant changes to your setup, document them and their outcomes.
Anomalies: Record any unusual occurrences or events, such as power outages or extreme weather conditions.
8. Photos and Diagrams:
Include photographs of your plants at various stages to visually track their progress.
Draw diagrams or sketches to illustrate your setup or any changes you make. I do both 👊👀
9. Learn and Adapt:
Review your journal regularly to identify trends, successes, and areas for improvement.
Use your journal to troubleshoot problems by comparing notes from healthy grows to those with issues.
Adjust your cultivation practices based on the insights gained from your journal.
10. Security and Privacy:
If growing cannabis is not legal in your area, take precautions to protect your journal's privacy, whether it's a physical book or digital file. O_o you could try to encode it and have it done in a language you only know like dothraki...O_O or Sindarin and Quenya you just have to hope no one in the police is a nerd.
Keeping a detailed cannabis growing journal is a valuable tool for becoming a more skilled and successful grower. It allows you to learn from your experiences, refine your techniques, and consistently produce high-quality Dank! will in the future make a grow journal type thing but for now im really busy with work so i have to make do with the time i got!

Dark leaves add a touch of drama in any garden. The contrast comes from dark leaves showing off the greens and other colours in the landscape. #growingtip The darker the leaves the more sun they need. Don’t be tempted to try them in the shade 🌸

Our first delivery of Lisianthus have arrived in time for the weekend. They always make me think of my mom who loves them in flower arrangements. Grow them in a full sun spot in a well drained container where you can keep the soil from drying out 🌸 #eckardsgarden #growingtip

Everyone can grow their own whether it’s a full on veggie patch or containers on the patio or courtyard with tomatoes or strawberries. #growingtip: Feeding your veggies with organic fertiliser boosts the flavour? 🌸 #eckardsgarden #growyourown #growsumyum

We have been told that some of you are trying to grow your own cabbage, here’s a hot tip from the Cabbage King himself:
Start by growing the seeds indoors. You should start the seeds when there are 6-8 weeks left before the last frost of spring.
