Thanks to State Rep. Rhetta Bowers and other Texas legislators, law enforcement officers must receive training in how to interact with individuals who have Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. @AARPTX proudly supported #HB568 in the #txlege. https://t.co/iXWNSGvYDJ

Now in Criminal Justice Committee laying out #HB568. This bill would require that peace officers complete a program instructing them on how to interact with individuals with Alzheimer's & other dementias. This training would instruct police officers on how to recognize #txlege🧵

Volunteers like Retta Brandon help lead AARP Texas' advocacy for the 50+ at the Texas Capitol. Retta brings attention to #HB25, a wholesale prescription drug importation bill, and #HB568 regarding dementia training for peace officers.#txlege

#HB568 supports training for law enforcement responding to dementia cases. Important piece of leg. as law enforcement is often the first responder on the scene to assist our community members with dementia.
