This week in #HCArchive we are enjoying this 'Printer & Stationer & Paper Trade Review' from 1880, which includes adverts from many different printers including a centre spread by William Collins Sons & Co Ltd. It also features a section for 'mill and trade gossip'!

This week at #HCArchive we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of A. A. Milne's When We Were Very Young. Published on the 6th November 1924, the poem 'Teddy Bear' was the first appearance of Winnie-the-Pooh.’

It's Halloween tomorrow & we hope you have your costumes at the ready! We have been getting in the mood by digging up spooky titles from #HCArchive and enjoying their creepy illustrations, such as these from 'Haunting Stories of Ghosts and Ghouls' published by Hamlyn in 1985. 👻

We are currently cataloguing our old trade catalogues in advance of #HCArchive's move to Robroyston next year & thought we would share some of our past autumn editions. These include a catalogue from autumn 1925 with a cover illustrating the development of the house of Collins.

School holidays are sadly over but we are ready to learn & be inspired by the Collins School Series which contain a mix of educational text & popular childrens' stories! Published in the late 1800s/early 1900s these were hugely popular & sold hundreds of thousands. #HCArchive

Starting with the publication of Mr Tickle in August 1971 and the publication of Little Miss Bossy in 1981, the Mr Men and Little Miss series spans over 50 years and has grown to over 90 characters. We have many of these characters in #HCarchive in a variety of books!

We are brushing up on our history of the Olympic Games in #HCarchive with this book by Wolfgang Girardi, published by Collins in 1972. It was part of The International Library: a collaboration between five publishers to produce a series of information books for young people.

We're looking 'Behind the Scenes at Wimbledon' this week with this title by past Wimbledon secretary Duncan Macaulay, published by Collins in 1965. This history of Wimbledon since 1922 includes Collins family member Ian G. Collins who also competed in the Davis Cup! #HCArchive

The Euros are well under way and we have football fever in #HCArchive. We thought we would share a glimpse into our football related titles, which include match reports and images of different grounds as well as the first written record of the Football League table in 1888-1889.

For fans of Thomas the Tank it's Rev. W. Awdry's birthday on 15th of June, so we are sharing some of the items we hold in the archive relating to his popular series of children's books, The Railway Series. We have books, jigsaw puzzles, maps of Sodor, and even vinyls! #HCArchive

This week marks the anniversary of the publication of Agatha Christie's The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. It was the first of many Christie books published by William Collins. Since its first publication in 1926, it's been reprinted and reread over and over again. #HCArchive

It's exam time for many at the moment, so we are having a look at our educational catalogues from the early 1900s. They advertised a range of educational books & texts, & explained that Collins Clear-Type Press was specially designed to abolish eye-strain in schools! #HCArchive

The Collins Gems pocket series started out with the Collins Gem Pocket Pronouncing dictionary in 1902 before expanding into many different topics. Here's a small selection of our Gems series from the 80s and 90s, where you can see changes through the editions. #HCArchive

With glimpses of nice weather on the horizon, our thoughts are turning to summer holidays. For inspiration we are looking at our Collins travel guides from the 1970s and 1980s which were a bargain price of 35p! Can't forget the handy phrasebooks too. #HCArchive

From Cathedral Street to our current Westerhill site, Collins has always found a home in Glasgow! #HCArchive is full of images that show our development as a business alongside the local community.

We are an active workplace in HarperCollins & we have the photos from #HCArchive to prove it! These images taken between 1948 & 1950 show past Collins staff taking part in different sports, including tug-of-war, during a company's sports day. #SportArchives #Archive30 @ARAScot
