My great uncle Jack Johnson. He was a second class stoker on the HMS Kelly and was killed when it was torpedoed in 1940. He was 21 years old. Our family always lays a wreath on the local cenotaph at St. Mary’s, Ellenbrook where he is named #hmskelly #RemembranceSunday #WWII

6 of 10: In early May 1940 Louis #Mountbatten led a British convoy in an operation during the Norwegian Campaign which ended in disaster. A letter dated 20/4/1940 most probably from #HMSKelly to his mother already evacuated to #Broadlands. @Navalhistory @navalhistorian @The_RPSL
RIP Countess Mountbatten. She called mum after granddad died sending condolences. He served with Lord Louis during WWII. #HMSKELLY
