#HOPEfortheWeek: Challenges With the Implementation of Machine Perfusion in Clinical Liver Transplantation
This article discusses the challenges in shifting from static to dynamic liver preservation in clinical practice; including organ perfusion strategies, ongoing trials, and future study design. It highlights the current research status, cost and regulatory impacts, along with factors for global implementation and reimbursement. The influence of research on cost-utility for tailored decision-making in perfusion strategies is also explored.

#HOPEfortheWeek: Hypothermic machine perfusion for liver graft preservation
Hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP) technology has potential to increase the available donor liver organ pool for liver transplant recipients and improve clinical outcomes after liver transplantation. This review describes the mechanistic benefits associated with HMP for preservation of liver grafts and highlights clinical outcomes of liver transplantation using HMP technology. Broader clinical application of HMP in resuscitation and preservation of liver grafts is anticipated over the next decade once regulatory, logistical and financial challenges are overcome.

Machine perfusion of the liver and bioengineering
The combination of NMP with previous HOPE was shown beneficial and the addition of Damps/Cytokine filters into perfusion circuits is currently explored.
