HAL 25kN thrust class turbofan engine can be used on Basic / Advanced military trainers, small business jets & large UAV applications. HTFE-25 can be used for: - 5 ton a/c with single engine - 9 ton a/c with twin engines Two core engines & one full engine have been built & tested. Core engine tested for light up, acceleration & speeds up to 99.5%. Further trials are under progress.

2/2. The new unmanned fighter jet will be powered by a 25 kN turbofan engine developed by Defence PSU #HAL called the #HTFE25 ("Hindustan Turbo Fan Engine"), which can support an unmanned fighter jet with an All up weight (AUW) of 5-6 tones.

#HAL #HTFE25 turbofan engine under testing by HAL with afterburner. This engine is under development as an independent product by HAL with the aim to use it in UAVs , trainer aircrafts and business jets. A further development of the same can even be used upon Jaguar. #iadn

17. #HTFE25 started in 2013-14 with 6yr timeframe. Current status - Core 2 runs completed. Now Full Engine TD runs and Design Config review in progress. No order yet, but product specific dev (e.g. for IJT or Jaguar) would take another 5yr, which is what I had expected too.

20. #HTFE25 also completed cold light up test at 14 degC with spark ignitors. HAL is working on the A/B development of #HTFE. The A/B module was successfully demonstrated on a PTAE7 engine along with a fixed area nozzle. With A/B in place #HTFE is expected to achieve max

19. UPDATE HAL AR 2018-19: #HTFE25 core has two prototype under test - Core-1 and Core-2. FY2018-19 saw 96 test runs bringing total to 339 runs so far. #HTFE25 Core-2 was successfully run at 100% speed with and without IGV modulation in March 2019.

8. #HTFE25 has 25kN thrust in dry mode which can be enhanced to 36-40kN once an afterburner is fitted in it. This makes it an ideal engine for ~5T class single engine aircrafts such as Trainers like IJT Sitara or ~9T class combat fighters such as Jaguar or some for a Business Jet
