I like #Slowdowns better than #SafetyPauses and #HaltsForHealth Yes, we had the same. We don’t (yet) live in an authoritarian state. Anyone referring to practices used by other such governments would be mischaracterizing our recent history. Granted, they weren’t fun. Less fun for 250K children orphaned by the hands of the virus & failures of policy.

Calling them "lockdowns" doesn't capture the full story, especially when many critics didn't fully comply. They were #HaltsForHealth. Our Community Protection Period saved countless lives. With everyone using respirators & improved vaccines plus clean air tech, we could avoid future #SafetyPauses.

Lockdowns are not going away. They will be with us forever as a rhetorical device to push the Overton window so far right, we won't be able to get regular disease surveillance, testing, mandated ventilation improvements, masks at least in healthcare or even vaccines for kids.
