#HatcherPass #AvalancheMitigation Update: 2/3/25 9:00 AM – The N. Palmer-Fishhook Rd./Hatcher Pass Rd is still closed at milepost 14 (Goldmint parking lot) through today. Crews broke through the large debris pile on Sunday and are now moving into Marmot 3 and beyond to clear the rest of the road (Marmot 1, Marmot 2, Gopher, and Rattlesnake). If no surprises, we should be able to lift the closure by tomorrow (Tuesday). Until then, please enjoy the attached photos of the work. The road will remain closed above milepost 14 for an extended timeframe to allow for the debris clearing work to continue. After a site visit today and initial efforts of removing debris, it is expected that the effort will take longer than a week to complete. 🏔️ 🏔️ #HatcherPass Update from the trenches: As you know, a natural avalanche crossed the closed portion of the road near MP 15 yesterday. Forecast from NOAA shows significant precipitation on the way which will impact the area today and tomorrow, contributing to the potential of additional natural avalanches impacting the Palmer-Fishhook (Hacher Pass) roadway between MP 13-17. There are still plenty more avalanche paths that could release putting additional debris on the closed roadway. The Closure will continue today and continue to be reassessed daily.
