THE HAWK TUAH MEMECOIN RECAP Hailey Welch teamed up with a few people to launch the $HAWK token in an attempt to capitalize on her fame as the "Hawk Tuah" girl. The result was a blatant scam that is now landing them all in hot water and will lead to lawsuits. Hailey built a lot of goodwill with her sense of humor and personality, leading to a large number of trusting fans. This is very a dangerous thing to have if you're being led down a dark path with scammers. THE LAUNCH The $HAWK token launched on December 4th 2024 and began with an initial pump to a $500M market cap as investors bought into the asset. They did not realize that they were already doomed. Bots buying at the lowest prices instantly drove the price up as retail investors begin to buy. Once the token hit a $500M market cap the bots and presale investors dumped their tokens, crashing the price 95% and leaving the retail investors with a worthless coin and losing all their money. THE SCAM 1⃣ 97% of the HAWK supply is centralized to cluster of wallets that interacted with one another. This was not made public by the team, thus covering up the centralized risk. Centralization like this means that the risk of a dump is so high- it's nearly a guaranteed loss. 2⃣ 17% of the supply was sold by the team to foreign investors with a ZERO DAY UNLOCK PERIOD. This means that 17% can be dumped instantly. The team leaders call this a "strategic allocation". THIS WAS THE RUGPULL. The team sold the ability to dump the asset to offshore buyers for a price. They made their money at the expense of would be investors by using Hailey's fame and endorsement to create a presale valuation. They called this a "strategic allocation" in an attempt to offload the legal risk and liability. Make no mistake, this was a premediated rugpull- the team knew exactly what would happen without a vesting period on presale tokens. 3⃣ The Contract Address (CA) was made public prior to launch. An instant red flag as it gives bad actors the ability to target the asset with bots to snipe tokens at at the lowest prices. No human being can front-run the bots doing this with code- you will lose every time. Why would they do this? It ensures the price will reach a high market cap by forcing retail to pump in loads of liquidity, allowing presale investors to make a ton of money. I believe this was also premediated and quite likely known by presale token buyers. 4⃣ 15% in transaction fees go directly to the creator. This generated over $2M to the creator's wallet during launch. The team claims nobody specifically owns this, it's a "foundation in the Cayman Islands" that will distribute the money to those who will be working to make this project a success for years. Reality? The foundation is a shell meant to protect the individuals involved in this scam from legal liability. CONCLUSION Stay the hell away from coins like this. If you're going to put your hard earned money into something- KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING. Learn how to do your due diligence or stick with Bitcoin. If you bought into this and lost money. Track everything. Bank transactions, crypto transactions, onchain transaction numbers, the amount you lost. Save it all, track it all. Whether you'll get anything back is unknown- but you need records to prove you bought and lost as much as you did to have a chance. Remember, money can always be made again and is not more important than your life and well being. You'll get through this. My advice to Hailey is to stop speaking about this publicly. Retain a lawyer immediately. Save texts, screenshots of chats, and emails as evidence. Your goal now is to prove you were unaware of the ultimate plan of stealing money from investors. It's a near certainty that this coin will lead to serious lawsuits, fines, and jail time. Those involved will pay a steep price for their actions.
