Before @Hibernate 6, it was common to use the #HibernateTypes library to map non-standard #SQL types to @Java types, or you could define your own @Type or @Converter. After the last major upgrade, no types or converters are required. You can use @JdbcTypeCode annotation instead:

#JSONB type from @PostgreSQL is not supported by @Hibernate natively, but we can use #HibernateTypes! The article from @Baeldung explains how to use it properly: https://t.co/mVXuP5aRpA @JPABuddy automatically finds proper type from HibernateTypes while creating entities from DB:

How do you store Boolean value in the #DB? As char? As byte? Whichever way you choose, you'll need to implement a #JPA Converter. @JPABuddy will scaffold it for you! It also supports #HibernateTypes lib and can find the most appropriate class for an entity's attribute there:

What non-standard types do you use in @Hibernate entities? The #HibernateTypes lib probably covers everything you may need. Never heard of it? Check out the article by @Baeldung https://t.co/QsxsLvidam and see how @JPABuddy can suggest the right way to go:

Thx to @vlad_mihalcea and his #HibernateTypes project it is very easy to store an OffsetDateTime object without loosing the current timezone as JSON Binary. Remember by default it is stored in UTC. When you don't want to loose the Zone use a custom ObjectMapperSupplier

There is no out-of-the-box way to map a @PostgreSQL JSONB type to an attribute in @Hibernate. But there is a solution — use the #HibernateTypes library! If you have it in your project, @JPABuddy finds appropriate types and suggests them automatically during reverse engineering:

Another useful guide by @baeldung on using @Hibernate custom types: mapping @java array to the @PostgreSQL array! @JPABuddy cannot implement custom types (@vlad_mihalcea has already done it for you in #HibernateTypes lib), but it helps to apply them correctly in a few clicks:

If you already use #HibernateTypes, don't forget to upgrade it. If you still limit yourself with types supported out of the box - stop fasting and use #HibernateTypes!
