Frankly, Alan Bates ought to be in the House of Lords. I can't think of a more worthy recipient of the honour of being nominated a ‘People's Peer’. It might even reflect positively on the crusty House of Lord Appointments Commission #HOLAC (though I doubt they'd entertain it).

This was the reply to my email to #HOLAC, confirming that #RishiSunak had the final say on her Life Peerage. I suspect a dodgy deal w/ #BorisJohnson is behind it all.
