As I mentioned earlier in the week.. HAP is a disaster which only benefits greedy private landlords. It puts immense financial pressure on people. The government will spend 1 billion on HAP this year and it’ll be going into private landlords pockets.

#HomesNotHAP Dublin City Council bosses prefer selling off public land, lining the pockets of landlords & developers, and boarded up council housing to caring for the housing needs of Dublin's homeless.
All the while HAP, which was meant to be a stopgap, continues to grow as the main delivery model of insecure public housing. Inflating rents and making a mockery of the free market ideologues.
According to the Examiner, there are 5,000 people on the social housing list in Cork.
According to the Business Post, Cork City Council built 9 social homes in 2020.
According to the Irish Times, over a €1bn has been given to landlords in HAP payments.
