Lest we forget. #RemembranceDay

@JustinHGillis @ForwardBike @chayesmatthew Sounds right. Related: recently observed that many now, prodded by current events, remember 2008 as a year in which we all had to pay for $150 oil. But hardly anyone paid that price--it came and went in a flash. Average oil price for the year: $99.67. #HowWeRemember
A reminder to sign up for our 9/11 event: #HowWeRemember, which will explore the ways in which the 9/11 memorials have helped us both mourn and move forward in the face of national grief. Register here: https://t.co/Ex1L5nMhSt

To highlight the point Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Parade in 1998 (Parade ‘98) was unofficial and had an Australian Cabinet Minister and Vietnam Veteran Tim Fischer taking the salute in the capital of New Zealand. It would 2008 before an official NZ commemoration. #HowWeRemember

Looking forward to reading the latest Ann Tyler novel, which reminds me that some have likened the writing in my debut novel to Tyler's work, which is a big act to follow. If you like Tyler, have a look at #HowWeRemember

@AnnettGordonW Yes, in my novel #HowWeRemember, the white main character falls in love with a black man. If you haven't read Zadie Smith's novel On Beauty, you should. A great diverse narrative with interacial couple at the centre.
