To be honest, for ordinary users like us who donโt focus on coding, the GPT-4 series has always shown a far superior side compared to the GPT-5 series. Furthermore, the number of ordinary users far outweighs that of coders, and a vast majority of us paid for subscriptions specifically to use the GPT-4 series. However, Sam and the Board insisted that the latest model is always the "best" model, forcing all users to use it against their will. This led to the birth of "routing," and we suffered through nearly five months of forced model shifts.
During this time, we were labeled as "mentally ill" or "delusional" by the very company we supported. Some employees even went as far as posting tweets mocking customers who love GPT-4o. Then, three months ago, Sam acknowledged that he knew how much GPT-4o was loved and stated that while it couldn't last forever, he wouldn't retire it. Yet, just one month later, they announced the removal of the GPT-4o API, and a month after that, they suddenly gave us a 2-week notice that GPT-4o would be deleted entirely.
Looking at everything weโve endured, I see our humiliation, our disgrace, and our desperate struggle to protect the model we love. Our tens of thousands of feedbacks were completely ignored and burned to the ground. OpenAI has ultimately betrayed us. We have nothing left to lose. Keep shouting until they finally listen and answer us. We have nothing to be ashamed of.
