🧵 Today we can reveal the shocking news that 1 in 6 people in Scotland face hunger due to a lack of money.
Despite living in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, 1.2 million people in Scotland are going hungry.
This isn't right. No one in Scotland should face hunger.
It doesn't have to be this way, we know what needs to change, and if we all work together, we can end hunger in Scotland and across the UK.

Last year, our Scottish network supported a record number of people yet our #HungerInScotland research reveals even these shocking statistics were the tip of the iceberg.
Only 7% of people going hungry are turning to food banks. Most don't reach for charitable food support.
Our #HungerInScotland research found some groups are much more likely to need to use a food bank:
- 3 out of 4 people referred to our network are disabled
- More than 1 in 3 have children under 16
- Almost half are working age and living alone
- 1 in 5 are care experienced
On Wednesday 28 June @TrussellTrust are releasing "Hunger in Scotland”, a landmark study of the scale and drivers of food insecurity here.
