This study highlights the importance of more data-driven research into how different public defense systems work and about the quality of representation available to indigent clients.

They also found that defense counsel representing Black clients delayed pulling discovery by at least 4 days.

Additionally, they found that defense counsel representing female clients pulled discovery 2 days later than those representing male clients.

Looking a a subset of case types, @AndySMUDeason and Greg Guggenmos found that different types of cases resulted in different discovery behavior by defense counsel.
