Rasd Coalition Condemns the Targeting of the “Jaw Al-Naseem” camp for #IDPs in #Marib
The Yemeni Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violations (Rasd Coalition) strongly condemns the attack that targeted the “Jaw Al-Naseem” camp for IDPs east of Marib city, near Sahn Al-Jin military camp, on Friday, August 7, 2026. The attack, carried out by the Houthi armed group, resulted in civilian casualties and damage to the IDPs' shelters.
According to the Yemeni Ministry of Health, the attack killed two civilians and injured 14 others, a toll that underscores the severity of the attack and its direct impact on the civilian population and displaced persons in the area.
As part of its initial documentation of civilian casualties, Rasd Coalition team documented the injury of one-year-old Mira A. A. M., who sustained shrapnel wounds to her face and head, while her mother, Iman A., was also injured. M., a 21-year-old displaced female, sustained severe head injuries from shrapnel. The shelling also partially damaged her family's home.
Rasd Coalition expresses its deep concern regarding the Houthis' continued systematic attacks targeting civilian areas and camps for IDPs. It emphasizes that this incident cannot be viewed in isolation from a series of attacks on IDPs camps and gathering points throughout the years of war in several Yemeni governorates, including Marib, Hodeidah, Al-Jawf, Taiz, and Al-Dhale'a, which have resulted in civilian casualties and damage to property and civilian infrastructure.
Rasd Coalition calls on the Houthi group to immediately cease all indiscriminate attacks that endanger the lives of civilians and IDPs, and to fully comply with the rules of international humanitarian law and the principles of the protection of civilians. The coalition also calls upon the United Nations, the international community, and international human rights mechanisms to condemn attacks targeting civilians and to ensure an independent, effective, and transparent investigation into this and similar incidents. Those responsible must be identified and held accountable under the law, ensuring that impunity is not tolerated and that victims receive justice and reparation.
The Yemeni Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violations (YCMHRV) reiterates its call to all parties in Yemen to respect the civilian status of camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and to take the necessary measures to protect them from the effects of hostilities. IDPs, who were already forced to flee their homes in search of safety, must not be subjected to further risks and violations.
