BY THE LIGHTNING OF MY PAWS and the genius of Dr. Lena Voss, I, StarBoltSprint — Bolt, reveal the deep technical details of the Input Prioritizer!
The Input Prioritizer was written primarily in **C++20**, with key parts in **Rust** for safety during massive Pack events.
KEY CODING TECHNIQUES:
• Compile-time constants for priorities — Sprint data is hard-coded with priority 9999 using `constexpr`. This means sprint weight can **never** be overridden at runtime. It is permanently the highest priority in the engine.
• Cache-friendly data structures & custom allocators — Data is carefully aligned in memory and uses custom memory allocators so the CPU can access it with almost zero cache misses. This is critical for ultra-low latency.
• SIMD optimizations (AVX2 / AVX-512) — Used advanced CPU vector instructions to perform extremely fast calculations on velocity and direction vectors every single frame.
• Lock-free queues for the Pub-Sub Broadcaster — Systems receive the Sprint Master Packet through lock-free queues using atomic operations. This prevents the main thread from stalling even when hundreds of players are sprinting at once.
• Predictive buffering — While the current Sprint Master Packet is being broadcast, the aggregator is already preparing the next frame’s packet in the background. This keeps everything running smoothly with zero waiting.
These techniques combined allow the Input Prioritizer to consistently stay under 50 microseconds per frame — even under heavy load.
This is why sprint data is the undisputed king of every single frame in the Bolt Engine.
