#IPSSOE Youth are mis-guided by politicians and the state recruitment system needs to be revived radically. It's disheartening to see the #yahapalanaya govt continued the same trend of the previous corrupt govt on state recruitment. Most of the graduates are jobless in their jobs

#lka state mechanisms need to be digitized. Fear of digitization exists among corrupt politicians and professionals. Lack of minimum standards for increasing effectiveness often the case in many state institutions. A GN division has a minimum of 5 govt officers for what? #IPSSOE

#IPSSOE #lka is also threatened by #CKDu #trafficaccidents #airpollution #wastedisposal in addition to natural disasters. The consistent death rates due to the above could have surpassed the loss due to 3 decades of war and natural disasters. Many new challenges yet to be seen.

It seems to me 80% participation to 20% engagement. does it mean the participation of women do not produce engagement? Conducive environment is critical for increasing women engagement, which we still lack.

Any plans to increase economic literacy of mases. So that politicians can't deceive mases. Some continuous sm engagement would be ideal.#IPSSOE

I agree @sooriyamudali . The system needs to be improved. There are many CBO based initiatives to help poor and marginalised communities. But they lack integration and coordination with the state mechanisms to avoid duplication and increase aid effectiveness. #IPSSOE

@aslamsajaam The selection criteria & targeting of the Samurdhi programme definitely needs to be revamped. But, the programme itself has a lot of potential as it provides cash assistance, insurance benefits plus livelihood development assistance. #IPSSOE

@aslamsajaam The selection criteria & targeting of the Samurdhi programme definitely needs to be revamped. But, the programme itself has a lot of potential as it provides cash assistance, insurance benefits plus livelihood development assistance. #IPSSOE

As Dr. Gunatilake also mentioned, since #SriLanka no longer has the advantages of #naturalresources & cheap #labour; we need a highly educated and skilled labour force to compete with more advanced economies. We are still far behind in this respect. #IPSSOE

#IPSSOE @sooriyamudali . Samurdi system is not effective anymore. In a DSD I know of, many who aren't eligible still in beneficiary list. The strong targeted intervention of most poor need to be devised and the money spent on those in-eligible could be well spent on those poor.

1/2 Good question. #IPSSOE many #LKA governments have tried to create jobs in rural areas (e.g., 200 garment factory prog). But these have failed. This is partly due to infrastructure and human resource gaps in rural areas.
