Apollo Iatros Kültü Apollo Iatros kültü ağırlıklı olarak #Karadeniz Bölgesi ile sınırlıydı ve bu bölgedeki #Pantikapaion, #Istros ve #Olbia gibi diğer büyük İyon kolonilerinde de yaygındı ve hepsi Milet kökenliydi, ancak ilginç bir şekilde bu kültün hiçbir izi Miletos'ta bulunamamıştır. Apollon'un Iatros sıfatı tam anlamıyla doktor veya şifacı anlamına gelir; tanrının bir şifacı olarak ilk kanıtı, Homeros'un İlyada'sında Glaukos'un ok yarasını iyileştirdiği yerde ortaya çıkar [#İlyada, 16.527-531]. Ancak Apollon'un bu yönü, isminin ima ettiğinden çok daha geniştir ve erkeklerin ve kadınların şifacısı olarak kabul edilmesinin yanı sıra, Apollon aynı zamanda devletin sağlığını koruma sorumluluğu nedeniyle de saygı görürdü: şehrin politik refahı, insanları besleyen mahsullerin refahı ve iç savaşı önleme. Apollon'un oğlu Asklepios'un kültünün 5. ve 4. yüzyıllarda yükselişi Apollon'un bu işlevini gölgeledikçe, Iatros sıfatı giderek daha çok tıpla ilgilenen uzmanlaşmış bir tanrıyı temsil eden Asklepios'a atıf yapmak için kullanılır oldu; bir asaya sarılı yılan niteliği bugün hala yaygın olarak tıbbi bir sembol olarak kullanılmaktadır.
