To say this is inadequate is an understatement.
It results in mains bursts/water shortages every time the decrepit system comes under pressure (especially when the ground freezes during a cold snap).

It’s freezing. Ireland’s decrepit water pipes can’t cope with the cold: mains bursts/water shortages are on their way.
Irish Water won’t admit it’s because of the state of the pipes: it will say “demand” has gone up. It will admit no culpability.

Ireland’s pipes are a shambles:

- Victorian-era cast iron
