It's been a month since the @sfchronicle published their sensationalist series that perpetuated stereotypes on the immigrant community.
They failed to provide corrections or significant context, so we’re publishing our letters to the editor to bridge the information gap. ✍️
Blaming the ways cities choose to protect immigrants who call them home for an overdose health crises that is striking both sanctuary and non-sanctuary cities alike is misdiagnosing the problem, and therefor proposing erroneous solutions.

Many ppl are surprised to learn that sanctuary policies have no bearing on a person’s criminal prosecution or jail time.
ICE can do their dirty work w/o the need for the city to use its resources to subject people, who call SF home, to deportation.

SF Board of Supes just voted 10 to 1 to pass @HillaryRonen’s resolution upholding Sanctuary and rejecting attacks by DHS. Every member of the board except Sup. Dorsey (shame!) voted yes. #ICEoutofSF
Many workers have shared with me violations of their rights at work but chose not to speak up due to their fear of having to deal with law enforcement.
Weakening the sanctuary ordinance of SF will discourage even more workers from speaking up! #ICEoutofSF
