/5 We found that with impacts of #InbreedingDepression incorporated into our projections, the population was predicted to rapidly decline, and that removing individuals for release to the wild could increase this rate of decline.

/4 We next wanted to know if these impacts of #InbreedingDepression translated into an effect on #PopulationViability. We simulated the population under different management scenarios, including removing individuals for wild releases, for #SpeciesRecovery
/2 Sihek are extinct-in-the-wild and the ex-situ population is founded from only 16 birds & there are currently only ~135 individuals. Some inbreeding is inevitable in the population, which can lead to decreased survival and reproductive success (i.e. #InbreedingDepression)
