I'm attempting to follow the debates about #IndependentSafeguarding in the Church of England, and finding it difficult in the discourse to visualise a system which is truly independent while still making the church accountable for being a 'safe place run by safe people'....
Angela Tilbyβs column in the @churchtimes 8.3 sets out a false dichotomy between the @churchofengland & an #IndependentSafeguarding body.
*The body would not necessarily be βsecularβ.*
Obviously, those from other denominations, & others with nuanced views, could be involved.
Appropriately damning: #IndependentSafeguarding and #MandatoryReporting needed NOW. Forget the Institution's reputation. It's shredded, along with evidence.
