PFUMVUDZA/INTWASA GWERU DISTRICT FIELD DAY
Zanu PF Gweru District Coordinating Committee Chairman and Vungu Constituency Member of Parliament Hon Brown Ndlovu was represented today by Central Committee member Cde Wellington Magura as the Guest of Honour at the Pfumvudza/Intwasa Gweru District Field Day. The event was held at the homestead of Mr and Mrs Dube in Ward 14, Chiwundura. Convened under the theme, "Improving Food and Nutrient Security Through Productivity Promotion Field Day," the event drew scores of farmers from all six zones in Gweru District, spanning Chiwundura, Lower Gweru, Guinea Fowl and Somabula. The gathering shows the Second Republic's steady focus on rural transformation and agricultural growth, a cornerstone of His Excellency President Cde Dr. E.D Mnangagwa's vision for an empowered and prosperous Zimbabwe. Cde Wellington Magura extended hearty congratulations to the host family for clinching the Gweru District Farmer of the Year title for the 2025 to 2026 season in a closely fought contest. He also praised AGRITEX for its relentless extension work ensuring that the Pfumvudza/Intwasa concept delivers tangible results across every part of the district. The Central Committee member explained that the programme is a key strategy to propel farmers from subsistence growing toward full commercial farming as clearly articulated by His Excellency President Cde Dr. E.D Mnangagwa. He repeated that this approach places agriculture at the centre of the economy and as the main driver for rural industrialisation as the nation marches toward an upper middle income society by 2030. Cde Wellington Magura further extolled the President's wisdom in strengthening extension staff through Agriculture Education 5.0 and creating a supportive environment via accelerated irrigation rehabilitation and farm equipment provision. He reaffirmed that the Presidential Input Scheme reached out to forty thousand vulnerable households in Gweru District during the 2025 to 2026 season. He also said that the Zunde Ramambo programme continues to empower traditional leadership, adding that during the 2025 to 2026 agricultural season, five plots were set aside for Chiefs and Headmen and four for Village heads strengthening the Zanu-PF led Government's push for local development and food self-sufficiency. In a firm warning, Cde Wellington Magura declared that the Presidential Input Scheme is meant for working the soil not for selling. He stated that anyone caught trading the inputs will be arrested and prosecuted. He further stressed that the Second Republic will not tolerate sabotage of this programme. He urged all farmers to guard the inputs and use them as intended, in honour of His Excellency's commitment to food security and household livelihoods. Cde Wellington Magura concluded by rallying all party structures and farmers to continue supporting His Excellency President Cde Dr. E.D Mnangagwa and the Second Republic's development agenda. He called on everyone to rally behind Vision 2030 saying that no one and no place will be left behind.

The #Pfumvudza/#Intwasa farming model has just received a game‑changing boost with the launch of a new smart mini‑pivot irrigation system, unveiled at a field day on Kent Farm. Designed by farmer‑engineer Berin Stockill, the compact pivot draws water from a borehole or any reliable small source and can be operated by a single person to irrigate between 1-5ha. Having already been trialled with promising results among smallholder growers, the system promises to lift farmers out of pure subsistence by enabling year‑round, commercial‑scale production. Dubbed the Smart Commercial Pfumvudza/Intwasa Irrigation System, it is being hailed as a climate‑proof solution that cushions farms against erratic rains and prolonged dry spells, directly bolstering #Zimbabwe’s food‑security agenda #Zimbabwe food security. #Pfumvunda #SmartIrrigation @agribusiness110

Brick by brick and stone by stone, #Zimbabwe is rebuilding its agricultural destiny under the visionary leadership of @edmnangagwa. Recent maize and cereal production data reveal a steady upward trajectory, driven by the #Pfumbvudza and #Intwasa programmes, reliable rainfall patterns, and a well‑structured input‑support system that equips farmers with quality seed, fertilizer and technical advice.
These coordinated efforts are not merely boosting yields; they are restoring confidence in the sector and laying the groundwork for #Zimbabwe to reclaim its historic title as “the breadbasket of Africa.” As the harvests swell and supply chains strengthen, the nation moves ever closer to feeding the continent and securing food‑security for future generations #FoodSecurity #Agriculture @AfricanHub_ @SaharaWire @africa_news__ @AfricancelebMAG @oczmk
