Completely agreed. "think about your own beliefs and biases", so important for everyone to dig into what they believe and why and really decide if it's being aligned by disinformation or not

Fake debunking creates uncertainty in what is reality and what is fantasy. The illusion that misinformation creates adds to why it is such an effective media method. #JRN237 #NewsEngagementDay @CCSUJournalism
“Disinformation intersects with scam culture and tactics” - @CraigSilverman this reminds me of when my mom got scammed through facebook when she tried to buy an ice maker. it’s insane how disinformation is everywhere you turn. #JRN237 #NEWSENGAGEMENTDAY @CCSUJournalism
Craig Silverman came to CCSU back in 2017 for a similar presentation. he mentioned how TikTok was not an app he mentioned because it wasn’t around. now, it is a HUGE way disinformation, political and in general, is spread. #JRN237 #NEWSENGAGEMENTDAY @CCSUJournalism
Listening to @CraigSilverman talk about the how influencers are being paid to make political ads without disclosing is making me rethink a lot of the hidden intents of people on social media right now

instead of opposing disinformation, politicians and government leaders adapted to spreading disinformation to “fit in” and gain more audience. i believe this is why controversy became a popular tactic in governmental elections. #JRN237 #NEWSENGAGEMENTDAY @CCSUJournalism
Authoritarian governments used anti-fake news laws to “Criminalize legitimate reporting”. The question for them was: “how do we muzzle free press?”- @CraigSilverman @CCSUJournalism #newsengagementday #JRN237
The abrupt utilization of false information for the benefits of entire business is unprecedented, “There is a business for misinformation”- Craig Silverman. #JRN237 #NewsEngagementDay @CCSUJournalism
“disinformation and media manipulation are entrenched in global politics and elections.”this makes me really think about huge elections that i’ve seen. how much of what was being put out was true? how much was false? honestly scary. #JRN237 #NEWSENGAGEMENTDAY @CCSUJournalism
"disinformation as a for-profit company has exploded"
Thinking about this in current time it's so obvious yet so hidden at the same time ans I think, although obvious, should still be pointed out @CCSUJournalism #NewsEngagementDay #JRN237
“the battle for attention is more fierce than ever before” i think of 2020 when we were all in quarantine and all we had was the internet. we all wanted more attention, at least i did. #JRN237 #NEWSENGAGEMENTDAY @CCSUJournalism
disinformation and misinformation are two different things. misinfo unintentionally is sharing the intentional disinfo. my question is what’s the motivation to disinform? #JRN237 #NEWSENGAGEMENTDAY @CCSUJournalism
So excited to see @CraigSilverman speak tonight @CCSU student center, how are you spending your #NewsEngagementDay ?
