Really enjoying the thread. Thanks for your time.
I was wondering if you have any dos & donts advice for querying a historical project. #JZAMA
#JZAMA Does it make sense to take encouragement from competition placements? I've had Page Semi, Big Break Semi, Moondance Finalists, even Nicholl top 10% and 15%. It's so always a bridesmaid kind of thing it gets a bit eyerolly. But it helps with perseverance.

May be a stupid question, but it's pretty simple.
What's your stance on questions in a logline to hint at a twist? Or is that insanely trite?
@johnzaozirny Did the presentation of the material, the voice, play a large factor in that? Or was the dialogue/plot progression what kept you hooked? How much of a factor is the presentation? Should one be as concise and visual as possible or focus on stylistic delivery? #JZAMA
@johnzaozirny Hi John! I am writing my first paid movie for indie producers and I do not have a lawyer or representation. When would you suggest going after these? When the first draft is finished? When I have something to show? #JZAMA thank you!
Just wanted to thank you for generously donating your time on this crazy app, once again. Itβs always informative, personable, and helpful! #JZAMA
@johnzaozirny Most writers work day jobs and we understand the need to focus and improve. If you recieved a great longline and great script with a look book, is it bad if they cannot provide other fully finished works since they focused so much on providing a great "sell"?

@johnzaozirny This thread made me curious about the process for writing CAPSULE, which was based on βan original ideaβ by Matthias Hoene. So, who approached who with the idea? #JZAMA
@johnzaozirny Aside from the great logline, what in HEADHUNTER did you find to be most captivating? Why? #JZAMA
@johnzaozirny I pitched a tv show and have a production company attached to it. We take it out early next year. Should I seek out a manager/agent right now or should I wait to sell it before reaching out? #JZAMA
@johnzaozirny Other than queries, it seems the best way to attract your attention is with The Black List. If someone believes their screenplay is ready, do you recommend hosting it on that platform? (And paying for an evaluation?)

@johnzaozirny On that note, when pitching to producers, would they typically set a price for the feature through the option or would that be a discussion for after a financier or studio gets involved? #JZAMA

My question: what's better, a high concept logline that needs "work" or a low-concept logline that is perfect? What's more likely to win your interest, all other things being equal?
@johnzaozirny Hey John! Thanks for taking the time to do this AMA!
Is page count a huge factor for you when doing reads? Like is a 120+ spec an immediate turn off? Or is it all just dependent on the story and dialogue? #JZAMA
@johnzaozirny In a query, do you expect only one logline? Iβve spent 3ish years building a portfolio and finally feel ready for a rep, but donβt want to seem green/desperate with a long query. I have 3 scripts that have gotten some love. #JZAMA
@johnzaozirny If the long term goal is to be a multi-hyphenate creator(writer/director/actor, etc), is that something you share right away in manager meetings or does that come off overwhelming or green since youβd have different reps for each? Thanks for always sharing your wisdom! #JZAMA
