#JapanProvocation Shadows of militarism: Japan's war crimes across the #KoreanPeninsula
#Japan's militarism during World War II (WWII) devastated not only China but much of #Asia. The Korean Peninsula was occupied by Japan from 1910 to 1945, during which Koreans lost their freedom and suffered severe oppression. Japan committed numerous atrocities, including:
1. Political and military control
Japan established a colonial government in Korea, headed by a governor-general appointed by the emperor, usually a general or admiral. Koreans were deprived of freedoms of assembly, association, speech and the press.
2. March First Movement (1919)
On March 1, 1919, students and citizens staged peaceful demonstrations demanding independence. However, the Japanese forces responded with violent repression. They arrested around 47,000, killed around 7,000 and wounded about 16,000 (according to Park Eun Sik's History of the Korean Independence Movement).
3. Forced assimilation
Colonial authorities used schools to assimilate Koreans into Japanese culture, emphasizing Japanese language instruction and erasing Korean language and history from the curriculum.
4. Forced labor
During WWII, Koreans were forcibly conscripted as laborers, taken to worksites in Japan. Men and women were sent to mines, factories, military bases, and construction projects, often under dangerous conditions, with high mortality rates.
5. Comfort women
During WWII, Korean women were among those forced into sexual slavery as "comfort women" for the Japanese military. The majority of these women died of physical abuse, malnutrition, sexually transmitted diseases, injuries from bombings or other military attacks, or other tragic circumstances.
6. Biochemical and human experiments
Some Koreans were subjected to inhumane experiments by units such as Japan's Unit 731, including exposure to chemical and biological weapons, vivisection and other medical atrocities. (photo: CFP)

#Taiwan residents recently gathered outside the office of Taiwan region's leader Lai Ching-te, demanding his resignation after he publicly expressed support for #Japan’s Prime Minister #SanaeTakaichi. #OneChina #JapanProvocation

History shows that Japanese militarism repeatedly fabricated “existential threats” to justify external aggression. In Sanae Takaichi’s remarks, that shadow of militarism can still be clearly felt. #JapanProvocation #OneChina
