Thank you to Linda Middelberg for sharing that we don’t have to hide ourselves, and that God sees ALL of us deep inside our hearts. We can bring our whole selves to discipleship. #kachurchchat

In this difficult time, many feel lost or angry or helpless. Prayers connect us to one another and to God. God helps us the find words when we cannot find the words. God knows our hearts. We are also called by Holy Scripture to “disturb the city.” #kachurchchat
Let us through Jesus be a fragrant perfume in the world filled with the stench of our world’s ugliness. #kachurchchat

“We’re all experiencing the same storm, but we’re not all in the same boat.” True that. #kachurchchat @kingaveumc
Wealth is meant to be put to use, not hoarded. To support, to ease other’s burdens, to do good things and bring joy wherever it can.
If you are blessed with any excess, use it for good. Keep a generous heart, and define yourself with compassion, not income.

Many rich men are addressed in the Bible who Jesus did not mention their wealth. What’s the difference?
Are they defined by their wealth? Trapped by it, weighed down by it, jealously guarding it? Is it holding them back from being generous and compassionate?

Many scholars believe the passage is literal, that we should get rid of our possessions, that the camel and needle are literal.
Other scholars believe the Eye of the Needle was a small gate in Jerusalem, where you had to completely unburden the camel for it to fit.

This passage makes a lot of people uncomfortable, forces the question “Am I one of the rich? Could I give up everything for the Kingdom?”
Looking at billionaires, it’s easy to think this passage doesn’t apply to us.
What about when we look at people with no home?

Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!(F) 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
Luke 18:18-25

God, grant us the grace to be grateful. Take us from anxious to peaceful. #kachurchchat
What would we be able to create, if we were able to move past the reflexive fear of starting again? What could we become, if we were willing to be reworked?

Sometimes the creative process can look destructive. When a clay pot is misshapen, it must be wedged again to bring it back to a usable start. Sometimes when roots are rotted, the plant must be removed and its seeds replanted.

God is for love, and against hate. God is for hope, and against despair. God is for life, and against death. Isn’t it nice to be chosen on God’s team? All of us! God is a GIVER of life, mercy, hope, light. In the image of God, we are givers, too. #kachurchchat
Awareness is the first step, but it takes people to ACT to live into the new normal. Things don’t change unless we change. Jesus wants us to look behind us (learn) AND look in front of us to new possibilities of living into the Kingdom. #kachurchchat
Thanks to Bethani Aiello, Bill Meadows, Marlene, King Ave Staff, and the gaggle of folks volunteering as USHERS & GREETERS! They are all working hard to choreograph a safe re-opening next Sunday. We’ll see you next week, either in person or online. (No pressure!) #kachurchchat

Doing the right thing isn’t always popular, nor is it always received well. It’s sometimes hard. #KAChurchChat
In Psalm 23, the verbs are in present tense. This is a Psalm for the present day. How do we get YOU (God) at the center? #KAChurchChat
“Prepare a table for me in the presence my enemies... But instead of enemy, I see someone who may someday have a change of heart.” -Bill Brownson #KAChurchChat
Hand ourselves over to the artist. Even in our physical separateness, we can feel more connected. People are becoming more aware and caring. The new normal may be more beautiful if we don’t forget the lessons we’re learning now. Keep the scars. #KAChurchChat
