Final #kharif sowing data: total area 110.39m ha, 1.5m ha behind last year. #Paddy is down nearly 4% at 42.93m ha and cotton down 0.9% at 10.96m ha, while #pulses rose 1.4% to 11.96m ha and coarse cereals gained 0.6% to 18.57m ha (bajra +3.3%, jowar +9.4%). It's a rotation away from water-hungry paddy and cotton toward pulses and coarse grains in a deficit-monsoon year — supportive for the already-firm pulse complex and a mild headwind for cotton supply optimism.
