Unbelievable volatility in cattle prices the last 4 weeks! Big swings from day-to-day can make weekly data suspect, but @USDA_AMS price data from KY auctions showed huge improvement this week. Sustaining these levels next week is probably unlikely. #KYCattleMarkets

Lot size has huge price implications. Difference in load lots and singles can exceed $20 per cwt. Smaller producers note the difference in singles versus groups of 5-10 - uniformity matters! You want calves to group easily when selling! #KYCattleMarkets

A chart I use in a lot of extension programs. Over the last 10 years, a 550 lb steer has outsold a 550 lb bull by a little over $11 per cwt in Kentucky auction markets. @KYCattlemen @UKYAgEcon @UKAnimalFoodSci #KYCattleMarkets Source: @USDA_AMS
