From 2023 to 2025, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet awarded $1.3 billion in single bid asphalt contracts. These are the road contractors who got them. #KYFREE #TaxpayerWatchdog

KYTC awarded $1.3 billion in asphalt single bid contracts over a three year period (2023-2025). One company, L-M Asphalt, secured 31% of the total awards. #KYFREE #TaxpayerWatchdog

My piece on two KY film council members’ companies qualifying for millions $$$ in taxpayer subsidies just posted on the @heraldleader’s website. #KYFREE #TaxpayerWatchdog https://t.co/fFGCFRIGjs
I’ll be joining @DocLanceP this morning at 11am on 970AM for @TheKyVoice. We’ll talk about targeting Frankfort’s wasteful spending and prioritizing the taxpayers over the special interests in the 2026 General Assembly. Looking forward to the discussion! #KYFREE #TaxpayerWatchdog

My latest on @KYTC's single-bid asphalt contracts. The Cabinet awarded $150m in single-bid contracts during the first 6 months of 2025, resulting in an estimated $12.7m in higher costs than if there was a second bidder. #KYFREE #TaxPayerWatchdog
No surprise here. Kentucky bankers seek public money to boost private profits.
@catfaninthevill & @RobbyMillsforKY tax credits are appropriations through the tax code. Banks shouldn't need any more motivation than fair market returns to conduct business. #KYFREE
Kentucky bankers say they'll commit $20 million to new housing construction in the state -- if the General Assembly will match that with an equal amount of affordable housing tax credits. https://t.co/AWa5D3pUlL

This is exactly why a robust Rainy Day Fund is important. KY is benefiting from @KYHouseGOP & @KYSenateGOP making it a budget priority. #KYFREE

A win for the taxpayers. The language clawing back the $8.5m got across the finish line last night. Abusing the public’s trust and their tax dollars should come with consequences. Thanks to @kychrismcdaniel for living up to that ideal. #KYFREE

Senate Bill 1 will be voted on today in the House. Many members don’t read the bills they’re asked to vote for. It’s a problem but #KYFREE wants our friends to know what’s in this legislation. This email was sent to every member of the KYGA yesterday.

OPPOSE SB1: Sen. Phillip Wheeler's film subsidy legislation is in the hands of the state House. #KYFREE encourages the @KYHouseGOP to reject making it easier for a few film studios in Lexington & Louisville to get a handout paid for by KY's hardworking taxpayers.

In a discussion of state government efficiency on https://t.co/RWOiOPIwc4, Kentucky Senate President Pro Tem David Givens, R-Greensburg, says they don't to do what is going on in Washington, which is "destruction." He declined to elaborate. I think he reflects constituents' view.
Do we need a DOGE for Kentucky? Ideas are coming together in Frankfort. Here are a few of mine. #KYFREE #TaxpayerWatchdog https://t.co/QEq710oLc7
#KYFREE’s first research report released. $740m in economic impact by prioritizing strategies to keep families intact instead of incarceration. Great work by my colleague Sarah Durand on motivating this effort for us.
"I haven't seen any serious discussion…with the public or with the taxpayers," McNeill said, "In my opinion, taking the time to get it right is as important as getting it done." #KYFREE https://t.co/ciJElxr6V5
Kentuckians should expect better access to quality health care. Smart, pragmatic certificate-of-need reform is the path forward to deliver on that expectation. #KYFREE
#KYFREE supports the Price-Tag Protection Act
Imagine going to the grocery store and filling up your cart, but there are no price-tags on any of the items. You’d be in for a big surprise when you got to the checkout.
Now imagine it’s the government driving the cart and filling it to the brim—except YOU are the one who is expected to foot the bill!
That is essentially what Frankfort is doing to taxpayers when we don’t require price-tags (fiscal notes) on every bill that comes to the House or Senate Floor.
I have filed HB 178, the Price-Tag Protection Act, to change this. I believe that the General Assembly has a responsibility to know how much a bill would cost when we vote on it, and Kentucky’s taxpayers have a right to know how much of their money is being spent.
No matter which side of the aisle a legislator is on, we should ALL have a vested interested in fiscal responsibility and transparency.
Let’s get rid of the Pelosi-style process of “pass it now, find out how much it costs later!”

KYGA Day 1 means 30 more days until the taxpayer’s wallet is safe. #KYFREE

Reframing the CON debate around making meaningful progress is a priority of mine in ‘25. Here’s our 1-pager on how we’ll start that process. #KYFREE

Another piece of advice to KYGA’s new legislators. If you don’t have enough time to read bills, you won’t know what’s in them. And, after I’ve read them, the taxpayers will. #KYFREE #TaxpayerWatchdog

Strong articulation of GOP’s accomplishments since unifying control of the legislature. Encouraging to see the new Senate Majority Floor Leader’s emphasis on pro-growth tax policy and maintaining our commitment to the state’s Rainy Day Fund. @heraldleader @maxwellwise #KYFREE
Looking forward to getting back into session & continuing the work & progress being done by this supermajority GOP legislature.
