I think there is total dishonesty, Selfish Protectionism, utmost blackmail, double standards, across the board in this country. Mischievous of all, in some players of the media. First, I shouldn’t be misunderstood for taking on the media, that is not a mountain I would wish to climb, I owe a lot to media, I owe a lot to Journalism, I owe a lot to Journalists, I owe a lot to media houses.
However, In a bid to benefit many, Keep checks and Balances, offer credible and accurate news, Hold accountable media platforms, irrespective of what we owe one another, it would be a bad idea to shut up while a few individuals are running this great institution to ruins.
Justifiably, Yesterday, I talked about some Journalists who rusting @NationMediaGrp into some sort of a contest by politically choosing to run the media house into there own directions.
Journalist and media houses while operating, must give audiences to all spheres, beliefs without bias, bias maybe subjective based on the content of the day or that specific matter being reported on, but not necessarily all the time. An everyday irritation and not part time tantamount into a discomfort of a specific category of listeners, viewers and readers much as it maybe serving the purpose of some.
Now, some shallow thinkers (Who are NMG workers) translated my critic shallowly without subjecting it to logic. My findings or critic were on the following grounds; 1. Employees who openly affiliated Politically using spaces meant for all to serve some, when do they report with a balance yet they have known interests?. 2. Why employers were not sensitive to this ridicule; 3. Why Production Directors were allowing employees to front and promote employees interests other than scripting based on the objectives of the program? And Lastly; 4. Whether it was by design that employees and employers are in agreement to take that lane.
In anyway, I don’t think that raising a concern about such, I’m taking it personal, or, that am I against the media house. Certainly not.
If the management took the criticism literally without subject the interpretation to a test and audit on whether the criticism raised therein hold any iota of concern, that would be unfortunate. On whether, employees are guilty and thus choose to jump on the malice wagon, they may need to be helped to understand and I wouldn’t wish to abuse nor name call them.
But most importantly; just as media houses check the public, they are not immune to possible criticism in return. Disturbingly; when no one is open to being criticized, how do they get feedback from the public? How do they get to know how the public feels about them? How do they get to improve where there is public discomfort?
