BREAKING: The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, an India-based organized crime network, sent a letter directly to an Abbotsford, B.C. police station last August claiming to have more than 1,000 foot soldiers across Canada ready to carry out extortions and shootings, according to testimony at a federal immigration hearing this week. Edmonton Police Service Const. Kevin St. Louis, the lead investigator on Project Garter, told the Immigration and Refugee Board the letter openly laid out the gang’s criminal structure and stated that “every business needs to pay their tax,” describing the extortion operation’s financial goals.
