Yes, the Republican Party of the RECONSTRUCTION ERA were strong supporters of reparations for Freedmen. Reconstruction minded Republicans of today are still for reparations. However, the Republican Party largely is anti-reparations just like the Democratic Party. I call out Republican candidate Duke Buckner on this point. He says we should all just move on and treat all people equally. The American federal government has done reparations for many groups and still does today. They have not done so for Freedmen. Until they do it for us, we can NEVER be treated the same.
