#LB723 #AM1663 Linehan says Nebraskans can figure things out in this new mechanism. (Property tax refund worksheet). Yes they can. The point is they shouldn't have to.

@senatorblood #AM1663 #LB723 Also says "telling people 'let their accountant do it' is elitist. Not everyone can afford an accountant or a preparer. Or they may just like to do their own". (I agree - anyone that hasn't tried doing their own taxes needs to go back to school).

#AM1663 #LB723 @senatorblood rightly admonishing non-listeners in session right now in a discussion of Briese's "fixing a glitch" because "Nebraskans are getting screwed right now". Her amendment would bring true property tax relief. It eliminates the cumbersome mechanism.

#AM1656 #LB723 Sen. Matt Hansen put it very well: "don't say rah! rah! we lowered property tax, because it's already zero" (Nebraska collects no property tax).

#LB723 #LB1107 #AM1656 Sen. Dorn wisely reminds the body of the need to cut $1B only a few years ago, to not be too quick to give all the "excess" revenue back "to the people", to see the big picture and prepare for the next dark time when cuts will be needed. Keep some back.

#LB723 More "fluff" on high property tax and sudden selective worry about young homeowners. Ever notice the "young people" argument only pops up on property taxes? Never mentioned in banking, healthcare, college funding, affordable housing, political climate, &c.

Is "property tax relief" funded by "sales and income tax" really "tax relief"? #LB723 #LB1107 Briese trying to alter the '20 deal, increase the base, and then say a vote against alteration is voting for a tax increase. Precious time spent on revenue that should wait til later.
