Last year for #LDWorkWeek, @mencap_charity came to see how Joe and Tim were getting on in Northampton. Joe and Tim quickly established themselves as two of our most outstanding performers, which is another reason we're always encouraging employers to #ThinkDifferently.

Learning Disability Work Week will take place from 9-15 November and we will be shining a light on the valuable role of people with a learning disability in the workplace and the contribution they are making to the community throughout the Covid 19 pandemic. #LDWork20

“It's great to see our work around #LDWorkWeek being featured in @EnableMagazine. Less than 6% of people with a #learningdisability are in paid employment, but 65% would like a job.”

Here are our Project SEARCH interns at @DewsHospital with their stall for #LDWorkWeek last week. Project SEARCH supports young people with special educational needs and disabilities to find employment.

Today my girl (16) cleaned all the school shoes, with help! her sister (9) came and gave her a big hug and said thank you, big smiles huge sense of achievement.

As #LDWorkWeek closes, I’m sharing this post by #LDNurse @LauraCoburnRNLD about her sister Amy - a valued member of the team in a residential care home.
I’d be over the moon to work alongside Amy as in equal with all that enthusiasm and talent. She’s clearly buzzing! 🐝 🚀 😊
To celebrate #LDWorkweek here is a pic of my sister Amy (who happens to have #DownSyndrome) looking very proud in her uniform. She works in a care home for the elderly serving afternoon tea, helping in laundry, keeping the residents company etc & is a valued member of their team!

If you missed this yesterday, can I share it again? The only thing that saddens me is that this lovely girl isn’t getting paid for her input.
Thank you @LauraCoburnRNLD for posting this. Amy is a star!

We support #LDWorkweek and would encourage all employers to look into the many benefits, not just for the individual employee but also for the employer, their customers and wider society. Well done Amy.
