1. llms.txtとは
ウェブサイトの情報を大規模言語モデル（LLM）が読み取りやすい形で提供するための、テキスト形式の提案規格です。robots.txtのようにサイトのルートディレクトリに置くことが想定されています。
2. Googleのスタンス：推奨しない
Googleのジョン・ミューラー氏は、Googleのサイトの一部（開発者向けドキュメントなど）にこのファイルが存在することについて、「Googleがこの規格を推奨（Endorse）しているわけではない」と明確に否定しました。
同氏は、「この件については何度も聞かれているが、はっきりと『ノー』である」と述べています。
3. 経緯と混乱の理由
Googleが使用しているコンテンツ管理システム（CMS）がこの規格をサポートし始めたため、一時的にGoogle検索の開発者ドキュメントなどにも自動的に追加されました。
しかし、Google検索チームはその後、自分たちのドキュメントからこのファイルを意図的に削除しました。他のチームのドキュメントに残っているのは、単に削除していないだけであり、検索エンジンとしての推奨を意味するものではありません。
4. 実用性への懐疑
Googleは以前から、「誰もこのファイルを使っていない」「Google検索もこれを利用しない」「役に立たない可能性がある」という見解を示しています。
もし設置する場合でも、検索結果に表示されないよう「noindex」を設定することを勧めています。
まとめ
「llms.txt」を設置すればAIに有利になるという証拠はなく、Google検索チームも否定的です。SEOの観点からは、このファイルの設置にリソースを割く必要はないと言えます。
