Today I received an alarming letter related to capacity within our NICU, and Iโve asked my department and AHS to look into this.
I want to reassure families that my department has confirmed there continues to be space within the NICU. And should capacity become limited we will take any action needed to care for these young infants.
This reaffirms the need to expand capacity within the system, including building a stand alone Stollery, and expanding NICU capacity across the province.
My priority is to make sure that the babies and their families are looked after.
Thank you to the dedicated staff in our NICU, as a parent and grandmother, you are so appreciated.

Someone should FOIP all conversations by the AB curriculum committee to learn how they came to each decision, who was involved, what consulted, etc.
