The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Saturday celebrated International Yoga Day at the iconic Ghanta Ghar in #Srinagar’s #Lal_Chowk; a place once seen as a symbol of separatist sentiment. Before the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, several Kashmiri leaders had claimed that if the article was removed, not a single person would be left to hold the Indian flag in Kashmir. But today’s peaceful Yoga celebration under the Indian Tricolour is proof of how drastically the situation has changed. From Tiranga rallies to Yoga events, Lal Chowk – which was once seen as a place where national events couldn’t happen- is now full of energy and celebration. Doing Yoga on International Yoga Day right under the Indian flag at this spot, where hoisting the Tiranga was once considered a crime, shows winds have really changed for good. Today, the feeling of being proudly Indian is clearly visible in the heart of Kashmir.
