September 17, 1980 - The @trailblazers finished up their 11th training camp with a few guards sidelined.
Guards #DaveTwardzik and #LarrySteele have been sidelined with a back injury (Twardzik) and knee injury (Steele). In addition, the #Blazers first round pick #KelvinRansey has not signed a contract as yet.
The Blazers are headed to Little Rock, Arkansas to face the @Bucks on Sept. 19 before heading to Fayetteville for a rematch two days later.

May 23, 1977 - The day after the Game 1 loss vs the @sixers in the @NBA Finals, #BillWalton and #LarrySteele of the @trailblazers graced the cover of @SInow.
The two #Portland newspapers, the @Oregonian and the #OregonJournal, each filled the their columns with Game 1 assessments, and the news that @kaj33 has won his 5th #MVP award, with #Blazers center Walton finishing second.
In addition, both papers have ads highlighting @KOINNews coverage of the team. #KOIN is the local affiliate of @CBS which is covering the series, as well as the various #Blazersmania paraphernalia.

November 16, 1974 - #LarrySteele recorded the only triple-double of his career to help the @trailblazers defeat the @Lakers.
Steele finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and tied the then-@NBA record with 10 steals. #JerryWest had set the steal record on Dec. 7, 1973, the first year steals were kept as an official category. #LarryKenon of the @spurs set the current record of 11 steals on Dec. 26, 1976. It was tied by @kendallg13 on April 3, 1999.
Steele very nearly recorded the second official quadruple-double in league history as he passed for 9 assists. #NateThurmond recorded the first one just a month earlier, on Oct. 18, 1974, in his first game with the @chicagobulls.
Since Thurmond, there have been three players to record a quadruple; #AlvinRobertson of the #SanAntonioSpurs on Feb. 18, 1986; @DR34M on March 29, 1990; and @DavidtheAdmiral on Feb. 17, 1994.
#ClydeDrexler very nearly recorded a quadruple-double as well. On January 10, 1986, when he recorded 26 points, 11 assists, 10 steals and grabbed 9 rebounds.
The 10 steals is still the #Blazers record but has been equaled by Drexler and #BrandonRoy (Jan. 24,2009). Steele led the #NBA in steals in 1973/74, the first player to led the league in a category. Steele ranked in 5th place in 1974/75 and 6th in 1975/76. He was the first NBA player to register 300, 400, and 500 steals inn a career. Steele is credited with 846 steals, which is ranked in Top-10 in Team History.

September 8 1974 - Members of the @trailblazers and and of the #WHL Hockey team, the #PortlandBuckaroos, played their 3rd annual charity softball game. The game raised money for the Oregon Chapter of #EasterSeals.
#LarrySteele hit 2 Home Runs to lead the #Blazers past the Bucks 21-13. Down 12 to 9 entering the bottom half of the eighth inning, The Blazers scored 12 runs to jump into the lead. The Buckaroos could only add a single run in the ninth.

It was January 25, 2017 - It had been a couple of hard months for my boys and I but we were treated to the @trailblazers game through some divine intervention. The #Blazers were going to pay tribute to the 1977 championship team.
#LarrySteele, #LloydNeal, #BobbyGross, #CorkyCalhoun, and #RobinJones were there for sure. I don't remember others there but I don't know. Obviously #BillWalton was there as well. People were lining up to have their pictures taken with the guys and the trophy.
Soon a @ModaCenter employee, who was pretty adamant to not have anyone touch the trophy, was met by a booming voice, "Let them touch the trophy. We all won it. It belongs to everyone."
Not sure what happened to that employee but Bill spoke and we were all very respectful to our trophy. I had seen it many times before in the office back in the day, but that was the day I realized Bill Walton was sharing it with us.

April 13 1979 - #LarrySteele, the cagey 8-year veteran for the @trailblazers, scored 16 points in the #Blazers Game 2 victory vs the @Suns in the 1st Round Playoff series.
Rookies @champagnennuts and #RonBrewer led the Blazers with 21 and 20 points respectfully with Thompson adding a playoff career-best 17 rebounds.
#WalterDavis tied his then playoff career-best 31 points, 22 of which happened before Portland coach #JackRamsay put Steele on him mid-way thru the 3rd. Davis

March 24 1974 - #LarrySteele scored his then career-high 26 points and #SidneyWicks recorded his 6th triple double but it wasn't enough as the @trailblazers fall to the @Bucks, who secured a tie for the best record in the @NBA.
Wicks finished with 22 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists. Steele would top this career-best in 3 days when he scored 28 points vs the @warriors.
@kaj33 scored 43 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the win. #OscarRobertson recorded his 181st, and last, triple-double in the #Bucks win with 14 points and 10 rebounds and assists. #BobbyDandridge nearly had his first triple-double with 25 points and 10 assists, but only tallied 9 rebounds

March 24, 1978 - In an expected move, the @trailblazers placed Bob Gross, who recently broke his ankle, on the injured list but what was unexpected was placing #LarrySteele on the injured list as well. A player must miss at least 5 games once on the list.
By placing Steele and Gross on the injured list, joining #BillWalton and #LloydNeal, the #Blazers have an active roster of 7 players, 1 under the minimum a team must dress for a game. In order to field the minimum of 8 players, #Portland signed forward #JackyDorsey and center #DaleSchlueter today.
Schlueter is expected to dress for the game today against the @DetroitPistons. Schlueter previously played for the Blazers from 1970-72 before being traded. He attended the Blazers training camp prior to the 77/78 season before being released. Recently he played for #ClaudiasTavern, a local #AAU team that just won the Oregon AAU Championship.
Dorsey played college ball at the @UGABasketball and was drafted by the #NewOrleansJazz in 1976. After being cut from the Jazz, he had been playing in the #EasternBasketballLeague where he was averaging over 26 points per game for the #BrooklynDodgers before joining the @nuggets for 7 games earlier this season.
Before the 1977/78 season began, Blazers VP #HarryGlickman had made a proposal for each team to have a 2 man "Taxi-squad" so that teams could move a player into a playing spot when an injury occurred, especially when the @NBA limited the rosters from 12 to 11. His idea was rejected, but since the Blazers have 4 of their 11 players sidelined, Glickman feels the taxi-squad would have been helpful.

Jan 27 1979 - There is speculation that the @trailblazers are looking to trade long-time forward #LarrySteele though no team is mentioned.
Steele has the longest tenure with the #Blazers, joining the team in 1971. His name has often been mentioned in various trades over the years. During the 75/76 season a trade sending Steele, #SidneyWicks, and #LaRueMartin to the @chicagobulls for #BobLove, #NormVanLier, and #TomBoerwinkle was agreed upon by the teams but Blazers owner #LarryWeinberg hesitated and then the Bulls nixed the deal.
