We ended our #LastWeekWalk at the Garden Tomb. Although we also teach and appreciate the history and archaeology of the Holy Sepulchre, the lovely setting of the Garden Tomb is cherished by the #BYUJerusalemCenter program. It provides powerful visual cues for Golgotha, where Jesus was crucified, and the empty tomb, that remains the preeminent symbol of the #resurrection. Two of our students taught in one of the Garden's worship spaces, where we also sang three hymns. It was a fitting final field trip for our students and for me as my time with the program comes to an end. It hit me as I said goodbye to one of our long-time bus drivers. So many of the people here have become dear friends. #HuntsmansintheHolyLand

We began the second day of our #LastWeekWalk by busing to some sites on Mount Zion that we missed yesterday because of the khamsin dust storm. The first was the Cenacle, a Crusader-era building on the site of an earlier Jewish-Christian synagogue that marked the site of the Last Supper (it also holds a former Muslim site honoring Nabi Daoud, the prophet David, later adopted as the Jewish Tomb of David). We also briefly visited Dormition Abbey, a German Benedictine church built in 1900 on the site of thr Byzantine Basilica of Holy Sion that commemorated the peaceful death of Mary as well as the Last Supper and Pentecost that were marked by the neighboring Jewish-Christian synagogue. #HuntsmansintheHolyLand #BYUJerusalemCenter

We resumed our #LastWeekWalk by returning to #Gethsemane, where Ted led our devotional by talking about the betrayal and arrest of Jesus Christ. The two side mosaics inside the Basilica of the Agony, depicting the betraying kiss of Judas and Jesus confronting those who came to arrest him so the disciples could flee, took on more meaning after Ted's words. #HuntsmansintheHolyLand #BYUJerusalemCenter
