For @rewirefestival 2024’s opening night we premiere the live score iteration of #LastandFirstMen by Neon Dance, @JohannJohannss & Yair Elazar Glotman w/ narration by Tilda Swinton. Thursday 4th April, Koninklijke Schouwburg, The Hague. See you there! https://t.co/bfuZX7nPNR
#LastandFirstMen is a bleak look millions of years into the future when humanity is an after thought. It's not necessarily a movie, but more of a visual feast of alien landscapes all done in black/white with narration done by Tilda Swinton.
Currently streaming on #shudder
Hurrah! #LastAndFirstMen arrives on Blu-ray in the US this week. I mixed the film and it’s a special one for me. Jóhann was working on this film for years and we on his team decided to finish it after he passed away. A love letter to our genius friend who died way to early ❤️🎵
The late Jóhann Jóhannsson's 'Last and First Men' arrives on Blu-ray this week.

Tried to watch #LastAndFirstMen last night. Not since #Koyaanisqatsi have I felt more like I SHOULD be greatly moved & edified, while actually feeling like I'm getting a migraine.
This week’s triple feature is #BeauIsAfraid, the late, great Jóhann Jóhannsson’s #LastAndFirstMen on @Shudder, and on @ScreamboxTV, #DementiaPartII!
Don´t miss! So excited about @JohannJohannss #lastandfirstmen based on #OlafStapledon|s novel as an outstanding work of art that combines music, film and storytelling! w/ #ViktorOrriÁrnason ➡️ Saturday from 7.30 pm @FESTSPIELHAUSat ➡️ https://t.co/WG8IEydhmz 📸 Werner Kmetitsch
For any #SciFi fans here - I highly recommend Jóhann Jóhannsson's #LastAndFirstMen. Shots of soviet/eastern european monuments, set to Jóhannsson's incredible music, with Last and First Men read over the top by Tilda Swinton. It's magical and incredible.
Two billion years ahead of us, a future race of humans finds itself on the verge of extinction. Almost all that is left in the world are lone and surreal monuments, beaming their message into the wilderness.
#LastAndFirstMen (2020) by #JóhannJóhannsson, out now on @mubiindia.

Thread. Photos of monuments from Yugoslavia known as spomeniks are often shared online, exoticised and wrenched from context.
Next up at the #YatesFilmFestival is Last and First Men, narrated by Tilda Swinton #AtHomeFilmFestival #FilmFestival #Films #SF #ScienceFiction #johannjohannsson #TildaSwinton #OlafStapledon #LastAndFirstMen

The use of silence in film was being discussed during a sound chat. Reminded me of @JohannJohannss’ film “Last and First Men” with #TildaSwinton narrating+music by Jóhann & Yair Elazar Glotman. Streaming until 31 Jan 2022 via @Metrograph. #LastAndFirstMen

The late Jóhann Jóhannsson's debut film, #LastandFirstMen, is out today from @Metrograph. @matthew_lucas talks its promise and its limitations:
"Indeed visually striking, but...it ultimately feels more like an enigmatic tease, a tantalizing 'what if.'"
