@DriveSmart_IN Not just following distance. The #CrashAvoidanceSpace (#CAS) concept, based on basic physics & psychology, is incomprehensible to ๐ฎ๐ณ drivers & riders. Authorities put up meaningless signs (why 70m? At what speed? Which vehicles? What weather conditions?). Never mind #LateralCAS!

Cyclists / motorcyclists also need to learn to ride 1.5m clear of parked cars, and to be alert about opening doors. The same rule about #LateralCAS applies to 2W riders as well.

Squeezing through narrow spaces without sufficient #LateralCAS often causes crashes. 2 incidents in 2 days where habitually leaving such space saved me expensive repairs (& legal hassles).

@DriveSmart_IN Not many factor in this reduction in visibility. When driving with the sun on your back, remember that oncoming drivers have the sun in their eyes & may miss spotting your car, even though you can see them very clearly. Make sure to have additional #LateralCAS in such situations.
@DriveSmart_IN Remember #LateralCAS? It applies to crossing oncoming traffic too. Maintain it always, or reduce speed to #deadslow. Lateral CAS of 1.5-2m is just sufficient space for errant 2W riders to filter through without crashing, in these scenarios.

@TopDriverIndia Why move across the unbroken line demarcating the road shoulder, and overtake dangerously, with too little #LateralCAS? Truck wheels show he's moving left & changing lanes at 0:15s. Enough time to slow down behind the ลฅruck & leave adequate #dynamic_CAS ahead.
@DriveSmart_IN This style of driving with zero #LateralCAS has become so common among Indian drivers. It's supposed to show off their skill of how well they can judge the margins of the car they're driving. There are no ๐ฅ being given away, but they refuse to believe that!

@3rdEyeDude Cabbie should have warned passenger about overtaking traffic, before brainless woman opened the door. To his credit, he pulled over to the side after the damage to clear the blocked traffic. ๐บ keeping 1 metre #LateralCAS would have prevented this.

@skc2000rpm @SafetyOverSpeed @Team_Road_Squad Even when driving at slow speeds or stopped at traffic lights, maintain #LateralCAS, and do not squeeze into tight spaces. It endangers other road users, and slows the subsequent traffic flow when movement resumes.
